Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood announced on Monday that Ministry of Education has been in consultation with 29 boards across country regarding promotion policy during coronavirus.

In his tweet on Monday, Shafqat Mahmood said:

“Ministry of Education has been in consultation with 29 boards across country regarding issues of some students arising out of promotion policy. Boards have requested few more days to finalise recommendations. A comprehensive announcement on all issues will be made by Friday.”

He said in another tweet:

All Board exams are cancelled. No confusion on that. 80% students have no issues. There are some categories like repeaters or improvers and private students and some others whose issues need to be addressed and will be by Friday.

Earlier Shafqat Mehmood announced the cancellation of all board exams across the country following the spread of Coronavirus outbreak. Speaking after the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting in Islamabad today, Shafqat Mehmood said that all the provinces have decided to remain the schools closed till July 15.

“All board exams have been cancelled and students of class 9, 10, 11, and 12 will be promoted for the next class on the basis of results obtained in the previous class,” he added.

A student can get admission in a university on the basis of his 11th class result, he said.

Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood added that the decision has been taken on the consensus of all provinces and added that students will be able to enroll in the next class as soon as the school reopens in July.
