Former prime minister of Pakistan Yousaf Raza Gillani tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday, told his son Kasim Gilani.

In a tweet on Saturday, Kasim Gillani accused the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf (PTI) government and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) endangered the life of his father by summoning him in corruption reference.

The NAB is investigation Gillani in the Toshakhana reference.

The bureau has filed a petition in an accountability court against high-profile suspects, including two former prime ministers and a former president.

NAB named former president Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, and former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani as suspects in the case.

The bureau has alleged that former premier Gillani facilitated Zardari and Nawaz in buying cars from the Toshakhana by paying 15 percent of the price of the cars.

Separately, Gillani is also embroiled in a battle with US blogger Cynthia Ritchie, who has alleged that the former prime minister had harassed her with ex-interior minister Rehman Malik 2011.

Moreover, the US blogger called on Gillani to apologize to her. she warned that in case the PPP leader did not apologize her within 14 days, she would initiate legal action against him.

Earlier, Pakistan People’s Party Senator Rehman Malik has responded to the rape allegation by the US blogger. He “strongly rejected the baseless and wild allegations”.

PPP leader’s spokesperson said in a statement, “Senator A. Rehman Malik has endorsed the statement of former Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani wherein he has denied the allegations leveled by US Citizen Cynthia D. Ritchie,”

Rehman Malik said that the allegations were made “to malign and scandalize him with malafide intentions”.

The spokesperson also said, “Tweets from Indian RAW directly threatening Senator A. Rehman Malik [and] hinting him of some dirty moves against him as senator stands against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is committed to Kashmir cause.”
