Extended hours of load shedding have created several problems for Karachi people as they are already facing an increase in temperature and heat.

Multiple areas in Karachi are experiencing over 8 hours of load shedding a day. District east is reportedly the most affected area.

According to details, citizens living in areas such as Saddar, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Shah Faisal Colony, and Saddar are experiencing as much as 12 hours of load shedding a day.

Sources said that more than 29 thousand coronavirus patients are suffering from load shedding, as they are isolated at their homes.

More than 49 thousand Covid-19 patients have been reported in the city.

In addition to this, water supply in these affected areas has been cut off consequently because of power outages. A man asked, “How will the water motors work without electricity?”

Residents demanded the government to solve this problem as soon as possible. Water supply from the Dhabeji pumping station has also been halted due to power outage.

One citizen said, “K Electric extended the power outage as temperature increased.”

K Electric warns residents of Karachi

A spokesman for K Electric warned the people of Karachi to be careful in case of rain and strong winds.

In a statement, the spokesman for K Electric said that obtaining electricity from illegal sources could be deadly, citizens should stay away from broken wires, power poles and PMTs, take special care of children in case of rain and take precautions. ۔

The spokesperson further said that do not touch electrical appliances with bare feet or wet hands, unsafe use of electrical appliances like water motor in rain can cause accidents, in case of any complaint contact 118 immediately.
