Building collapse incident in Karachi’s area Layari has left at least 13 people dead on Tuesday as more three bodies have been rescued from under the debris.

According to the details, the body of a 32-year old woman was recovered by rescue workers on Tuesday morning.

The five-storey building collapsed in Kalri area of Layari on Sunday night leaving its residents stuck under the debris.

The rescue workers are working tirelessly to recover the dead bodies as soon as they can. Many residents are still under the debris and fears of the numbers of those injured in the incident still loom large.

Pakistan Rangers – Sindh and local police are using heavy machinery to lift up heavy concrete slabs to recover the people buried under the rubble.

DG Rangers Sindh also visited the collapsed building site and reviewed the rescue and relief activities.

Earlier in December, a six-floor building, having 19 flats collapsed in Karachi’s Ranchore Line area. The unfortunate incident had claimed 24 lives and left other injured.

Getting notice of the matter, the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) had sealed the building.

Residential edifice located in Somra Street of Ranchor line. It had 19 flats and a couple of warehouses. It was built more than 10 years ago.

Utility connections to the residential complex had disconnected.

The building had evacuated in the wee hours after cracks had appeared in its structure.
