A sessions judge approved the bail of Adil Zaman on Wednesday, who is the brother of the prime suspect in the anchor Mureed Abbas murder case.

Adil Zaman has been ordered to submit a Rs50,000 surety bond.

He was accused of providing a licenced gun to his brother Atif Zaman with which he shot his two business partners, Mureed Abbas and Khizer Hayat, in Karachi’s Defence area on July 9, 2019.

The court has already granted bail to the key accused in the murder case. He was arrested on October 10, 2019.

Earlier, The Sindh High Court (SHC) had ordered the release of Adil Zaman on bail.

According to the details, the court did not issue a detailed verdict on Adil Zaman’s bail application.

Justice Aftab Gorar of the SHC had reserved the verdict. The prosecution opposed the accused’s bail application.

Adil Zaman and Atif Zaman had confessed to the murder of Mureed Abbas before the investigation team and witnesses also identified the two accused before the judicial magistrate.

The pistol with which Atif Zaman killed Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat was registered on Adil Zaman’s name.

The Sessions Court had rejected Adil Zaman’s bail application in the light of the evidence. SHC had granted bail to Adil Zaman despite witness statements and presence in CCTV footage.

On July 9, 2019, Atif gunned down BOL News Anchor Mureed Abbas and Khizar Hayat over a monetary dispute in Defence Housing Authority (DHA).

An anti-terrorism court had on Sept 30 dropped terrorism charges in the case and had sent the case back to a session’s court to conduct trial of accused Atif Zaman on charges of killing his two business partners.

Atif Zaman also sought pardon from Mureed Abbas’ wife Zara Abbas while appearing before the court.
