The emergence of 2,964 new COVID-19 cases in Pakistan over the last twenty-four hours has taken the tally to 72,460.

26,240 cases have so far been detected in Punjab, 28,245 in Sindh, 10,027 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4,393 in Balochistan, 2,589 in Islamabad, 711 in Gilgit-Baltistan, and 255 in Azad Kashmir.

26,083 patients have been recovered from the virus while the death toll stands at 1,543 with 60 deaths reported during the last twenty-four hours.

Recovery Toll 

According to the national dashboard, 13272 people have been recovered from coronavirus in Sindh province, Punjab witnessed 6971 recoveries, 1471 patients recovered in Balochistan, 2809 patients recovered in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 169 patients recovered in the federal capital Islamabad. 490 in Gilgit and 159 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Total recoveries stand at 26,083.

Masks Mandatory in Islamabad

Wearing masks/covering face in all public places in Islamabad has now been made mandatory. Deputy Commissioner Islamabad said in a tweet that Markets, public places, mosques, public transport, lorry depots, streets, roads, offices will be checked. Magistrates can be fined up to Rs 3,000 and sent to jail under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Global coronavirus cases

Global coronavirus cases crossed 6 million, as Latin America reported a grim milestone of 50,000 deaths from the disease. Global death toll tops 367,000.

Moreover, Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the National Coordination Committee (NCC) meeting here on Monday (today) to make further decisions to strict lockdown restrictions as Coronavirus cases witness rapid spike across the country.

All chief ministers, federal ministers and relevant authorities will attend the meeting that will work out a future strategy in view of a sudden increase in virus cases and fatalities in the country.
