PIA plane crash: 12-year-old injured in the mishap passes away in Karachi

A 12-year-old girl injured in the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plane crash passed away on Monday (today).

Maida was a resident of Malir’s Jam Kunda Goth and worked at a house in Model Colony. She was injured on May 22 when the ill-fated PK-8303 crashed in the neighbourhood.

A fire broke out after the plane crash and several bystanders were injured in it. Maida was burnt on 60% of her body.

The plane carried 99 people, including the pilot and crew, and only two survived.

Earlier, at least 70 bodies were identified from the PIA plane crash and handed over to their families.

According to the details, out of 99 people who were on board, 70 bodies retrieved, identified, and handed over to their families. Investigation of the crash is still underway.

Media reports said that the investigation of the crash in Karachi is nearing completion as Airbus experts have collected all important evidence to complete their probe.

An 11-member team of experts of Airbus, the manufacturer of A320, arrived in Karachi on May 26 to offer technical assistance in a probe into the crash of flight PK-8303.

Moreover, Federal Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan confirmed that it was decided to include medical experts and psychiatrists in the team investigating the PIA flight PK-8303, which crashed in a residential area near Karachi Airport.

According to the details, Medical experts and psychiatrists joining the investigation team will review the history of the medical and psychological condition of the pilot of the crashed aircraft, while the team will also collect the information from the pilot’s family.
