A Federal Cabinet meeting will be held to discuss the steps taken by the government to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus and the fate of the employees of the Pakistan Steel Mills employees.
According to the details, The federal cabinet will be briefed on the preparations for the federal budget and its initial features. The cabinet will review the country’s political, economic, security and Corona epidemic situation.
The federal cabinet will also discuss the implementation of the commission’s report on the Sugar crisis. The federal cabinet will consider ratifying the June 3 decisions of the Economic Co-ordination Committee.
On June 3, 2020, Economic Coordination Committee(ECC) of the Cabinet headed by Prime Minister on Finance and Revenue, Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh decided that payment to the PSM employees shall be contingent upon the decision of Supreme Court of Pakistan.
PSM BoD in its 409th meeting held on April 16, 2020 approved a Human Resource Retrenchment Plan which presented before the ECC through Ministry of Industries and Production.
The ECC, in its meeting directed the Ministry of Industries and Production to resubmit the proposal after reformulating it in consultation with PSM management so that its scope could extended to the maximum number of PSM employees.
The Economic Co-ordination Committee had on June 3 recommended the dismissal of 9,350 employees of Pakistan Steel Mills. The Cabinet will decide on the dismissal or retention of 9350 employees of Pakistan Steel Mills.
Furthermore, Cabinet will approve the nomination for the Board of Directors of Sui Northern Gas Pipelines.
