A 19-year-old girl who works as a compounder at a clinic was allegedly gang-raped by robbers during an alleged robbery in Gujjarpura area of Lahore.
Lahore Police said that the Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) was conducting an inquiry on the instructions of Lahore CCPO Zulfiqar Hameed.
According to the police, the SP CIA along with the team also inspected the spot and said that the accused would be arrested soon.
In the Preliminary Information Report filed by the Station House Officer (SHO) at Gujjarpura Police Station, Lahore, the complainant, Dr. Muhammad Anwar, said that he works in the X-ray Technician Ward at Mayo Hospital and he also runs his clinic part time.
The complainant in the FIR said that his 18 or 19 year old neighbor also works at the clinic which he used to take with him to the clinic but on July 1 when he closed his clinic at 10:20 pm and were returning to home and on the way they were surrounded by four armed men from both sides of the field as they approached the corn crop a little further from Sagyan village.
The complainant said that the robbers snatched his identity card, mobile phone and wallet at gunpoint and also snatched the purse of the girl who was with him, which contained keys, two gold earrings and Rs 10,000.
According to the FIR, two robbers pulled a weapon on the complainant and stopped him while two robbers raped the girl.
He added that the robbers snatched the keys of his motorcycle and fled after raping the girl.
Earlier in January this year, the Sindh High Court had suspended a Judicial Magistrate posted in Sehwan for allegedly raping a woman.
In November 2019, a young man was arrested for allegedly raping the young daughter of a brick kiln worker and throwing her into an 80-foot-deep well.
Earlier in Rawalpindi, an 18-year-old uncle strangled his niece to death after raping her, while police arrested the accused.
Meanwhile, the body of a 5-year-old school-going girl was found in a pond in Pewar village of Kurram Agency. It was later revealed that the girl had been raped before being killed.
Earlier, police in Malir area of Karachi arrested a 16-year-old boy on charges of threatening a 7-year-old girl and raping her in the bushes.
The country has seen an increase in the number of rapes and subsequent murders of underage boys and girls, with 12 children being sexually exploited daily in Pakistan, according to a report.
