Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday extended pre-arrest bail of President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and former chief minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif till July 16.

As per details, Lahore High Court heard assets beyond means case, and accepted Shehbaz Sharif’s plea requesting exemption from court proceedings.

During the hearing, the court asked that why Shehbaz Sharif has not appeared before the court despite testing negative for the novel coronavirus.

Counsel of the Opposition Leader told the court that according to medical experts, a person is considered completely recovered from the virus if he tests negative twice and despite testing negative, Shehbaz Sharif is still showing symptoms of the disease.

After hearing detailed arguments of Shehbaz Sharif’s lawyer, the court extended the bail till July 16.

On previous hearing, the bench had asked Shahbaz to get his fresh Covid-19 test conducted from Punjab Institute of Public Health Sciences.

In the fresh application filed through counsel Amjad Pervez, Mr Shahbaz said the court had directed the head of the institute to conduct his test.

However, he said, unfortunately no one from the institute contacted him for the test but to establish his bonafide he got his test conducted from a private laboratory, which turned negative.
