The district administration of Lahore has decided to enforce lockdown in seven more areas of the city after increasing the number of coronavirus (COVID-19) patients reported from these areas.

Deputy Commissioner Lahore Danish Afzaal has announced ‘smart lockdown’ in these localities of the city for a week from this midnight at 12:00 AM.

The authorities have decided to enforce lockdown in Township A-II Block, DHA, EME Society, Wapda Town, Johar Town C Block, Chungi Amar Sadhu main market, Punjab Government Scheme and Green City areas of the provincial capital city.

Pakistan has so far reported 2,980 Coronavirus cases and 83 deaths over the past 24 hours, taking the national tally of cases to 237,489 and fatalities to 4,922.

2,980 new cases detected after 21,951 tests were conducted in past 24 hours, according to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

91,602 COVID-19 patients are undergoing treatment while 140,965 patients have recuperated from the disease thus far.

Deaths And Tests Conducted

The death toll from the virus has reached 4,922 with 83 more deaths reported over the last twenty-four hours. 21,951 corona tests so far carried out during this period.

Some 400,000 new cases of Covid-19 reported over the weekend and the new coronavirus pandemic shows no sign of slowing down, the World Health Organization (WHO) said.

“The outbreak is accelerating and we’ve clearly not reached the peak of the pandemic,” WHO director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told.
