Met office predicts more monsoon rains in Sindh and Balochistan

Sindh’s capital Karachi has been traumatized and been at a halt since heavy rains flooded the city. Many people complained that phone and internet services were disrupted as they tried reaching out to family and friends.

Residents from the Shah Faisal colony reported that they had network issues from Thursday 4 pm till Friday morning and more complaints followed throughout Friday.

Power also seems suspended in over 35% of the city for the last 27 hours. More than 500 feeders are still shut. K-Electric officials stated that they won’t restore power until the water that had accumulated on Karachi’s streets was drained out completely.

It was reported earlier that water entered the grid stations in North Karachi, garden, Gadap, and Defence areas.

K-Electric was initially forced to suspend power to 900 feeders in the city to ensure safety in most submerged areas.

Many major roads in Karachi such as MA Jinnah Road, University Road, and Pehlwan Goth have been cleared with some small patches of water. The water that had accumulated at Do Talwar has also been cleared.

17 people have been reported dead in rain-related incidents throughout the city on Thursday. The situation seems bleak as rains are expected to pour in the upcoming days as well.
