Heavy rainfall with thunderstorm hit different areas of Karachi on Thursday due to which 1 person died due to electrocution and several others were injured. Heavy showers caused difficulties for the people.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms led to huge traffic jams and several areas faced a unannounced loadshedding. On the other hand, several flights were canceled and diverted to other airports due to intense weather conditions.

At least one person has died due to electrocution at Gulistan-e-Johar whereas several others were wounded as poles, billboards, and trees fell due to gusty winds.

Director Met Karachi Abdul Qayyum Bhutto said to the sources, “Under the influence of two monsoon systems, which merged today, heavy rains started in Karachi as well as other areas and cities of southern Sindh. It is still raining at 12:00 am in different areas of

Karachi and intermittent rain is likely to continue the entire night in Karachi.”

According to details, Karachi received hot weather on Thursday morning as the temperature reached 39.1 degrees Celsius with 89% humidity. Director Met Karachi said, “Following very hot and humid weather, light rainfall started at around 3:30 pm and the heavy showers followed in the evening.”

Shahrah-e-Faisal got the heaviest rainfall till 8 pm as 56 mm rainfall was recorded. Rainfall recorded in different areas (in mm) were 46 in Saddar, 38.2 in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, 37. at Pehalwan Goth, 27 at Landhi, 15 at PAF Masroor Base, 10 at Jinnah Terminal, 12.5 at Keamari and 10.5 at North Karachi.

According to details, power has been cut off in different parts of Karachi since last night.

Power outages in several blocks of Gulshan-e-Iqbal including Gulshan-e-Iqbal Block-13 D-1, Block-13 D-2 and Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Azizabad.
