As the city continues to receive heavy rains, massive traffic jams witnessed at Qayyumabad Chowrangi and Jam Sadiq Bridge after the closure of Korangi Causeway Road.
According to the details, heavy rains in the city has lead to massive traffic jams. Commuters travelling to Korangi area via Jam Sadiq Bridge are facing severe difficulties
People are stranded at the road in this heavy rain. The traffic police have advised the commuters to avoid driving the wrong side as this will make the situation more worst.
Meanwhile, the heirs of the youth, who were drowned in Korangi while saving a woman, staged a protest demonstration at the Brookes Chowrangi over failing to recover their youth.
The police have reached the spot and having talks with the protesters for the resumption of the traffic.
The downpour has been reported in Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Hassan Square, Golimar, North Karachi, North Nazimabad and Chowrangi while University Road, Tariq Road, PECHS Society, and Shaheed Millat Road have also received the monsoon shower.
Amid the current spell, several roads in Surjani Town, Yousaf Goth, Abdul Raheem Goth, and Dada Bhai Town are still submerged in the water.
Traffic Police in its update said that the traffic to Goadaam Chowrangi has been diverted to Jam Sadiq Bridge. The traffic from Baloch Colony being guided to Qayyumabad, a police statement said.
The traffic Police department has advised citizens to take suggested alternate routes to avoid the hassle.
Taking notice of the Karachi’s situation, Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed federal institutions to carry out relief operations and help rain-hit people in Karachi as heavy downpour brought life to a standstill in the city.
PM Khan has directed authorities concerned to step up relief efforts in rain-affected areas of Karachi and use all available resources in proving relief to people of Karachi.
