A passenger van overturned and caught fire resulting in the death of fifteen people with five injuries near the Super Highway.

According to the details, the speeding van was coming from Hyderabad to Karachi when its met the accident and then caught fire.

In addition to this, according to the Motorway Police, the accident took place near Nooriabad. There were around 25 people on board, out of which 15 were reported dead.

Five members of the same family, residents of Hyderabad Latifabad No. 5, are still missing. Six members of the same family had left for Karachi from Latifabad No. 5 area.

One of the dead was identified as 25-year-old Abdul Rashid, who was being treated at Civil Hospital.

Motorway Police said a one-year-old girl miraculously survived the crash, and the van driver is also safe.

The driver of the van, in a statement to Motorway Police, said that the bonnet of an oncoming vehicle came out and hit the windscreen of the van. “After the bonnet hit the windscreen, I could not control the car,” he said.

However, the driver of the other vehicle managed to escape, the police added.

Rescue officials said the DNA samples of the bodies have been collected to identify the victims as the bodies have burnt completely.
