Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa planted a tree as part of Sarsabz-o-Shadab Pakistan campaign and also attended a ceremony of polio-free Pakistan.
According to Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR), 29 million saplings have been planted by the Pakistan Army formations since 2018 while the Pakistan Army has been planting 5 million saplings in the recent monsoon season.
The ISPR said that in the next two and a half years, FWO would plant one million saplings along the motorways while six lakh saplings would be planted on the Lahore-Islamabad Motorway M2.
180,000 saplings would be planted on Karachi-Hyderabad Motorway while 120,000 saplings would be planted on Lahore-Sialkot Motorway, military media wing further stated.
The ISPR said that one lakh saplings would be planted on the Swat Motorway while the FWO’s tree-planting campaign is called Green Motorways.
