The Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Umar Sheikh landed into hot water after he made a comment, blaming the victim of the heinous crime.

“I am surprised that a mother of three, a lone driver, after leaving the Defence area took this route. She should have taken the straight route from GT Road, which is a generally well-populated area,” he had said. In his remarks, the CCPO wondered why the woman took the route to travel and said that she should have checked her petrol tank before getting on the said route. He also said that the woman had thought that this is France where traveling alone at night is fine.
