The parliament of Japan on Wednesday has elected Yoshihide Suga as the new Prime Minister.
Yoshihide Suga was elected on Monday to lead the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP). He won the votes of 314 members of the parliament out of the 465 total.
However, Prime Minister Imran Khan in a tweet has congratulated Suga on his election as the new PM of Japan.
He wrote, “Congratulations to Excellency Yoshihide Suga on his election as the new Prime Minister of Japan. I look forward to working with him for further strengthening Pakistan-Japan friendship and our increasing cooperation.”

The premier is looking forward to strengthen strong and better relationship between Pakistan and Iran.
On the other hand, soon after Suga’s election as the next prime minister, Shinzo Abe, along with his cabinet, announced their resignation.
“I have spent every day putting my all into economic recovery and diplomacy to protect Japan’s interests,” Abe told at the prime minister’s office.
Abe’s sudden announcement of his resignation last month triggered a leadership contest in the party as the outgoing prime minister undergoes serious health complications.
