Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday took strict notice of the robbery and gang rape case on the Lahore Islamabad motorway, and the rape and murder of a five-year-old girl, Marwah in Karachi.

According to a tweet from the Prime Minister’s office, the PM had taken strict notice of the two incidents and have stated that the protection of women is the government’s top priority.

According to the details, the PM has sought reports from the relevant authorities and urged the government to make existing laws effective to provide protection to women and children in the country.

On Tuesday, it was reported that two robbers have gang rapped a mother of two on the Lahore- Islamabad motorway. The woman, along with her two children, was driving to Gujranwala in her car when she was forced to stop at the Gujjarpura section of the motorway after running out of fuel. She immediately called a relative and sent him her location. He asked her to also dial the Motorway Police helpline 130 from which she reportedly received no response.

In the meantime, two robbers approached the car, broke the window, and took the woman and her children to nearby bushes where they raped her repeatedly in front of the children. They also snatched her purse carrying Rs100, 000 in cash, one bracelet, car registration papers, and three ATM cards.
