The Supreme Court of Pakistan has nullified Sindh High Court’s order for awarding bail to accused Adil Zaman and ordered trial court for announcing the verdict in the Mureed Abbas murder case.
According to the details, The apex the top court stated in its verdict that Adil Zaman was present alongside Khizer Hayat and Atif Zaman on the crime scene in accordance with the statements of eyewitnesses including Umar Rehan and Usama.
In addition to this, the witnesses had also identified Adil.
It added that the records have proven that the weapon used to murder Mureed Abbas was also belonging to Adil.
The evidence against Adil Zaman as co-suspect in the murder case was enough, however, the matters should be separately dealt for misuse of his release on bail and the presence of solid evidence.
Top Court stated that the observation of the Sindh High Court (SHC) was contrary to the available evidence as important facts were neglected while approving Adil’s bail.
Later, the top court annulled the SHC’s order for awarding bail to Adil Zaman and ordered the trial court for announcing the verdict in the case.
Mureed Abbas was shot dead in Khayaban-e-Bukhari area of Defense last year and accused Atif Zaman, who was allegedly involved in the incident, also tried to commit suicide.
Mureed Abbas’s journalistic career spans nearly a decade. He belonged to Mianwali but received education from DHA College, Karachi.
Mureed Abbas started his career with Business Plus in 2007 after which he joined the team of Sama TV, and then in 2017, he became a part of BOL News as a News Anchor.
According to the police investigation, Atif Zaman from Balakot was involved in the tire business while a container was seized from him this year, causing him a loss of Rs 50 million and the people who had invested with him Constantly demanding money.
SSP Shiraz said police were investigating why the accused finally killed the investors who demanded the money and whether it was just a transaction or some other angle.
Police have registered a case of the murder of Mureed Abbas on the complaint of his wife and TV anchor Zara Abbas while a case has also been registered against accused Atif Zaman on the charge of attempted suicide.
