The United States (US) embassy in the federal capital Islamabad has issued a travel alert for American nationals residing in Pakistan.
According to the details, the US diplomatic mission in its alert has warned of the citizens about the reports of a surge in street crimes in the capital territory.
The police response time over the crimes could be different, the embassy alert further said.
The embassy has advised the US nationals to remain alert during travel of the area.
“US citizens should avoid keeping precious jewelry with them during their travel,” according to the embassy advisory.
According to the US embassy, vehicles are being snatched at gunpoint, American citizens should be careful while traveling in different sectors of Islamabad.
According to the embassy advisory, US citizens must be very cautious while using ATM cards.
The embassy, however, said that it will continue its affairs as per the routine.
Recently the United States had improved its travel advisory for Pakistan, bringing it to the Level 3 category of ‘reconsider travel’ from the previous Level 4 of ‘do not travel’ category.
On the other hand, Islamabad police have rejected the statement of the American embassy.

According to the spokesman of Islamabad Police, no such incident has taken place in the areas mentioned by the embassy.
DIG Operations said there were no complaints in the police records of the areas identified by the US embassy. He said that the United Nations has declared Islamabad as a family station.
The rate of the street and other serious crimes in Islamabad has come down significantly as compared to previous years. The statement of the US embassy is based on assumptions.
