On Wednesday, Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the government is aware of the increasing prices of essential goods however, the federal government cannot do anything alone to stabilize the prices.
FM Qureshi said that the provincial governments should also keep a check on hoarding.
He also suggested that businesspersons should “refrain” from hoarding essential goods, as it is unislamic and unethical.
He went on to say that hoarding will not result in making profits as the federal government has already made arrangements for wheat and sugar. However, he suggested that the government should also review prices on Monday during the Economic Coordination Committee.
Qureshi also stated that the cost of production has also increased and they need to be revised.
