Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and other Karbala martyrs is being observed across the country on Wednesday with religious fervour amid tight security, to mark 40 days after the day of Ashura when Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions were a victim of Yazidi forces in 61 AH.
According to the details, special arrangements have been made across the country regarding civic facilities and security by law enforcement and local administration.
In Karachi, the main congregation highlighting the sacrifices of Karbala martyrs will start from Nishter Park at 1 pm and will be joined by smaller mourning processions from across the city.
The Sindh home department has imposed a one-day ban on pillion riding across the province.
Before the commencement of the procession, the Alam procession coming from the Shah-e-Najaf Imambargah on Martin Road would reach the Nishtar Park at around 9 am, moreover, a Majlis would be held at the Nishtar Park before the main procession.
As per the details, the procession would end at the Hussainian Iranian lmam bargah in Kharadar which will pass through Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jaminis Road, Mehfil-e-Shah-e-Khurasan, MA Jinnah Road, Mansfield Street, Saddar Dawa Khana, Preedy Street, Tibet Chowk, Boulton Market, Bombay Bazaar, Kharadar, and Nawab Mahabat Khanji Road before reaching its destination.
Karachi Traffic Police has issued a route plan for the procession of Chehlum Imam Hussain.
According to the spokesman of the traffic police, the main procession will leave Nishtar Park at 1 pm on October 8, 20 Safar.
The main procession routes include Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, Father Jimenez Road, Mehfil Shah Khorasan, MA Jinnah Road. The main procession will pass through Mansfield Street, Saddar Dawakhana, Pareedi Street, Tibet Chowk, MA Jinnah Road.
The main procession will pass through Bolton Market, Bombay Bazaar Kharadar, Nawab Mohabbat Khanji Road and end at Hussainiya Iranian Imambargah.
A spokesman for the traffic police said that normal traffic would not be allowed on the procession route during the procession.
According to the spokesperson of the traffic police, the people should take alternative routes during the procession. For the convenience of the people, the traffic police will be present on the alternative routes for guidance.
