CNG stations across Sindh will remain closed on Friday due to low gas pressure, Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) officials confirmed.
According to the details, due to gas shortage, gas supply to CNG stations will be shut for 24 hours tomorrow.
According to the SSGC officials, low gas pressure has been reported from the stations in the Site area, Baldia, Manghopir.
Let it be known that on October 7, the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) allowed Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) to issue new CNG Licenses to RLNG based CNG stations with the provision that the licensee would neither receive indigenous gas nor can claim for its conversion to indigenous gas, reads the statement released by the ECC.
The ban on the issuance of new licenses was imposed in 2008.
It is pertinent to mention here that the SSGC had already warned of a severe gas crisis during the upcoming winter season.
“Karachi and other parts of the province could possibly face a shortfall of 300mmcfd in winter,” the gas utility had said in a statement.
“We have informed the government of the shortage,” said the spokesperson. “It is now up to them to arrange additional supplies through imports or whatever source deemed fit.”
SSGC in its statement said “The complaints of low gas pressure are due to the low pressure at gas fields,”
“At present, the SSGC is facing a gas shortfall of 150mmcfd.”
