Sindh Governor Imran Ismail has called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad.

During the meeting, the political situation in Sindh and the issue of IG Sindh was discussed.

Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan summoned the Governor of Sindh to Islamabad over Karachi situation.

It may be recalled that PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz and other leaders had reached Karachi on October 18 to attend a meeting of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), an alliance of opposition parties.

Before attending the rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah, the leaders and workers attended Mazar-e-Quaid and offered Fateha. Maryam Nawaz and other PML-N leaders remained silent but Captain (R) started chanting slogans and the mob also reacted emotionally.

This situation continued for a few moments after which Maryam Nawaz and others left the premises.

PML-N vice-president Maryam Nawaz had said on Twitter on Monday morning that the police broke down the door of the hotel room in Karachi where they were staying and Captain (R) Muhammad Safdar arrested.

Police have registered a case against PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and 200 others for allegedly violating the sanctity of shrine of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

The case was registered against PML-N Vice President Maryam Nawaz, her husband Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar and 200 other unidentified persons under Sections 6, 8 and 10 of the Quaid-e-Azam Shrine Protection and Maintenance Ordinance 1971 and Section 506 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Top police officials, including Inspector General (IG) Additional IG Sindh, have decided to go on leaves over the issue of the arrest Captain (retd) Safdar.

Later, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa took notice of the ‘Karachi incident’ about putting pressure on the police to arrest PML-N leader Capt (retd) Safdar.

According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR), Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, taking note of the Karachi incident, directed the Corps Commander Karachi to immediately inquire into the facts and instructed to present the report as soon as possible.
