Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that the government or the Prime Minister has nothing to do with any FIR against Nawaz Sharif.
Briefing the media after the meeting of the federal cabinet, Shibli Faraz said that various issues were reviewed in the cabinet meeting, the meeting was informed that economic indicators are going well, large scale manufacturing and current account deficit has improved and continued. Expenditure deficit has been under control for 2 consecutive months.
“Foreign investment is also satisfactory. We want more foreign investors to come and invest in Pakistan,” he said.
He said that the meeting expressed concern over the rise in prices of daily necessities, rains damaged crops and increased prices, rains also affected cotton production. Cotton production targets will not be met.
Shibli Faraz said that all the indicators are going positive except inflation, wheat and sugar reserves are as per our requirement but Sindh government is not releasing wheat which is the reason for the increase in prices.
He said that a detailed briefing was also given on the affairs of PIA in the meeting. There are many problems in PIA but the revenue of the national airline increased by Rs 7.8 billion during Coronavirus.
The Information Minister said that the enemies do not want to see a stable Pakistan, the enemies want Pakistan to be like Libya, Iraq or Afghanistan, India is trying its best to blacklist Pakistan.
He said that we have no problem with the opposition, we are doing our job, we are taking the institutions forward and will continue to work for the prosperity of the country while Imran Khan does not commit corruption nor will he allow anyone to do so.
Shibli Faraz said that the previous rulers were engaged in looting and making money. If there is no corruption in the country, then why this country is in this situation.
He said that our war is against those who exploited the country for personal interests.
Referring to the treason case against Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders, he said that, “Someone may have filed the complaint but the government or the prime minister has nothing to do with any such FIR and we are not distributing the certificate of treason.”
It may be recalled that in the Shahdara police station of Lahore, the provincial capital, on the complaint of citizen Badar Rashid, the case was registered against Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders under sections 120, 120B (criminal conspiracy), 121A ( Waging or attempting to wage war or abetting waging of war against Pakistan ), 123A (Condemnation of the creation of the State, and advocacy of abolition of its sovereignty), 124A (Sedition), 153A (Promoting enmity between different groups) and 505 and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act 2016.
The FIR said that “instead of seeking medical treatment, the convicted Nawaz Sharif is sitting in London and making hateful and provocative speeches under a well-conceived criminal conspiracy to discredit Pakistan and its institutions.”
According to the FIR, Nawaz Sharif delivered his speeches on September 20 and October 1, 2020, in support of the stated policy of enemy India so that Pakistan’s name would be mentioned in the next meeting of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Nominating other PML-N leaders in the FIR, it was said that they supported Nawaz Sharif’s speeches.
On Tuesday, Lahore police clarified that the case registered against former Nawaz Sharif and other PML-N leaders at Shahdara police station was not registered by the state or any state agency but at the request of a citizen Badar Rashid.
