On Monday, the President of Pakistan, Arif Alvi held a meeting with Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah in Kuwait city.
During the meeting, Dr. Alvi had condoled the death of late Kuwait’s Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
On behalf of the Pakistani government and people, the President had conveyed the sympathies and condolences to Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
According to a press release,
“Pakistan and Kuwait are bound by a close fraternal relationship. Under the leadership of the late Emir, bilateral cooperation acquired a new level. Late Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was a sincere and trusted friend of Pakistan. He made an invaluable contribution to bringing the two countries and peoples closer. His efforts in the bilateral context and for regional peace and stability will be long remembered.”
After the death of Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah on Tuesday, the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Sabah was named the new Kuwait’s emir by the country’s cabinet to succeed after his brother.
The announcement of the cabinet was read out on the state television. Under the Gulf Arab State’s constitution, the Crown Prince automatically becomes the new emir of Kuwait and will have all the powers after taking an oath in the parliament.
It should be mentioned here that Kuwait’s emir Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah died on Tuesday, 29th September after a long illness at the age of 91. The monarch had ruled over Kuwait for nearly 15 years.
