Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has said that it will check the COVID-19 reports of the passengers before their departure and will stop them from entering the international lounge if any tested positive.

A notification has been issued by CAA, coming to effect today (Tuesday) saying that Jinnah International Airport has installed thermal scanners in the international departure lounge due to the increasing cases of novel virus’ second wave in the country.

Furthermore, it has advised all the airlines to deploy their representatives to check the passengers’ PCR reports at the departure gates.

It is pertinent to mention here that CAA development comes after the Covid positive passengers, despite the SOPs, passing through to the international lounge.

A few passengers had managed to enter the lounge with the positive PCR report and reported at the Airline check-in counter.

Earlier, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had imposed strict measures to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus at the country’s airport.

According to the details, at Karachi airport, only one visitor is allowed as well as at the Bacha Khan and Quetta international airports. People who come to receive their guests from the airport were directed to wait in their own vehicles.

On the airport premises, wearing a face mask was made mandatory for everyone.
