Government, People of Pakistan Want Peace In Afghanistan: PM

KABUL: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government and people of Pakistan want peace in Afghanistan and will extend all possible cooperation for stability in Afghanistan.

According to details, Prime Minister Imran Khan said in a joint news conference with the Afghan President at the Afghan Presidential Palace that he was grateful for the invitation to visit Afghanistan.

The Prime Minister said that Pakistan and Afghanistan have a historic relationship and the government and people of Pakistan want peace in Afghanistan, peace in Afghanistan is a guarantee of peace in the region.

Imran Khan said that despite the Afghan peace talks, there was concern over the violence in Afghanistan and wanted a ceasefire between the Afghan government and the Taliban.

He said that Pakistan has played a positive role in the reconciliation process, Pakistan has the highest desire for peace after Afghanistan, the Afghan war has caused more damage to Pakistan’s tribal areas.

The Prime Minister further said that contacts between the two countries would be enhanced for economic development. The Trade Adviser held important meetings with Afghan officials in the last three days and assured all possible cooperation for peace in Afghanistan.

Imran Khan assured that we will play our full role to end the violence in Afghanistan, peace in Afghanistan is in our own interest.

According to sources, the one-on-one meeting between Prime Minister Imran Khan and the Afghan President discussed issues of mutual interest, including bilateral relations and the Afghan peace process.
