Leader of the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PMD) and Jameeta e Ulma e Islam Fazl (JUI-F) Supremo Maulana Fazlur Rahman, in Multan, will chair a session of political parties included in the opposition alliance.

According to the details, the scheduled session will be attended by Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) senior leader Yousaf Raza Gillani, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Rana Sanaullah, Sajid Mir, Anas Noorani and others. The opposition leaders will address a press conference after holding consultations to announce the next strategy.

This session comes when the Multan administration took control of Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh stadium again besides arresting various Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) leaders and workers belonging to different political parties including Kasim Gillani, the son of former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gillani after they stormed into the venue by removing barriers.

Multan police and administration blocked the central routes of the Qila Kohna Qasim Bagh stadium and removed the tents, chairs and other equipment from the venue of the PDM rally.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan categorically said the government would not give permission to the opposition to hold its rallies in Multan and other cities.

“The coronavirus is spreading dangerously, therefore the opposition should postpone PDM public meetings,” Imran Khan said while talking to his spokespersons at the Prime Minister House.

“The government will strictly enforce standard operating procedures and not allow the opposition to hold rallies as the health guidelines did not permit large gatherings.” Said the Prime Minister.

While criticizing the opposition, the prime minister reiterated that he would not give any National Reconciliation Ordinance-like concession to the opposition leaders no matter how many rallies they staged.

The PDM has so far held four public meetings against the government in Gujranwala, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar while two are scheduled for Nov 30 and Dec 13 in Multan and Lahore, respectively.
