The Larkana police said on Friday that the prime suspect in the Kashmore gang-rape has been killed by an accomplice.

According to Nasir Aftab, Larkana’s Deputy Inspector-General (DIG), Rafiq Malik, the main suspect of the horrific case, was shot dead by an accomplice as the police drove him to an area to identify the whereabouts of others suspected of committing the crime.

He further said that Rafiq’s accomplices had opened fire at him when saw him with the police. Rafiq lost his life on the way to the hospital.

On the other hand, Khairullah Bugti, a second suspect in the Kashmore gang-rape case was arrested during the operation.

Amjad Shaikh, the senior superintendent of police (SSP) for Kashmore told that Rafiq had disclosed information about Bugti as well as told about his suspected locations during the interrogation.

Bugti, who opened fire at Rafiq when the police reached the RD-09 Police Station near Bakhshapur, was detained by the Larkana police. They had recovered weapons from his possession, the cop added.

SSP Shaikh said that a police officer also got injured during the operation.

A resident of Karachi and her four-year-old daughter Alisha were kidnapped and raped after a woman was called to Kashmore under the guise of a job scam.

The accused of raping a mother and daughter in Kashmore city of Sindh was produced in the court of Additional Sessions Judge on Wednesday. The court handed over the accused to the police on 3-day physical remand.
