Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz has said that the opposition’s hue cry over rigging in the Gilgit-Baltistan elections is to avoid defeat while the opposition considers elections valid in which they are winning.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Shibli Faraz said, “First of all, I would like to thank the people of Gilgit for the way they ran and participated in the election campaign and there was no law and order situation there.” I want to thank the government.

He said that all the political parties in Gilgit-Baltistan took part in the election campaign, the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have welcomed the PTI and the warm welcome of the PTI leadership is a testament to the fact that the people’s verdict was announced.

He said that the people of Gilgit had historically attended PTI meetings, which showed that they wanted to do something to solve the problems of the region.

The Federal Minister for Information said that the coalition of opposition parties mentioned the issues there and at the same time acknowledged that the previous governments had not done anything to solve the problems of the region in the last 10 years. The kind of atmosphere that is being created that the speeches and statements of the opposition suggest that they will call their defeat rigging and their cry of rigging is to avoid defeat.

He said that media should cover the Gilgit-Baltistan elections in full and keep an eye on the situation and also go to the polling stations there for coverage.

He said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is a party which has struggled for clean and transparent elections. Our agenda was that elections should be clean and transparent.

Shibli Faraz said that these people have a strange attitude that the election in which the opposition wins is right or the whole process is wrong.

He said that they are not relying on the record of the past, there are some hereditary leaders who have contradictions in their thinking, they are suffering from lust for power, their thinking is not democratic while the PML-N is elected in the guise of democracy. They adopting an unconstitutional approach to overthrowing the government.

He said that the opposition was lying on every issue, their statements were changing day by day, they were using their power, not for the welfare of the people but to save their corruption and increase their wealth.

Referring to inflation in the country, the Federal Minister said that inflation is a temporary thing, measures are being taken to reduce the prices of goods, the government is going to reduce the price of petrol while the economic situation would have been better if it was not for Coronavirus.
