Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed has said that Pakistan Railways (PR) is all set to make KCR Project operational.

In his recent statement, Sheikh Rasheed said that the 14-kilometer long track of the Karachi Circular Railways is completed and the remaining track is to be completed by the Sindh Government.

Sheikh Rasheed added that ‘We are waiting for the Sindh Government to complete the remaining track. At least 10 coaches have been ready and work on more 40 coaches is underway.

On Monday, PR had announced to partially resume Karachi Circular Railway (KCR) from November 16 in phases.

According to a railway spokesperson, initially, KCR will run from Pipri to Landhi and Orangi town.

The spokesperson said that eight trains would run between Pipri to Orangi, while the train departure times will be 7 -10 am and 1-4 pm.

It is also pertinent to mention here that the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued contempt notices to Pakistan Railways and Sindh government in the Railways deficit case. The court heard the Railway deficit case. The court questioned why the court order was not implemented. Departmental correspondence was carried out but the order of the Supreme Court was not implemented.

The court remarked that the Secretary Railways and the Chief Secretary had committed contempt of court. The court directed Secretary Railways and Chief Secretary Sindh to appear in person. The court asked why the Karachi Circular Railway project is not operational yet.
