The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has announced to suspend all scheduled political activities until the funeral prayers of Begum Shamim Akhtar, who passed away on Sunday morning.
“We have suspended all activities of the PML-N until the funeral of Mian Nawaz Sharif’s mother”, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said on Twitter.
“May God give courage to the family to bear this tragedy. Aameen,” she wrote.
Begum Shamim Akhtar, the mother of Nawaz Sharif, as well as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and the party’s president, Shahbaz Sharif — had died on Sunday morning aged 90.
To offer condolences on the sad demise of Begum Shamim, Prime Minister Imran Khan, President Arif Alvi, COAS Qamar Javed Bajwa, Chairman CPEC Asim Saleem Bajwa and PPP Co-chairman Asif Zardari express deep grief.
The political figures also prayed for the departed soul in eternal peace.
Begum Shamim Akhtar, 90, breathed her last on Sunday morning. Her condition had been fragile due to her old age.
Earlier in February, late Begum Shamim had departed for London to see her ailing son Nawaz Sharif.
