Punjab Govt Appoints Fayyaz-ul-Hassan As Provincial minister For Prisons

The reshuffle in the Punjab cabinet continued for the second day today. Provincial Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan has been given additional charge of prisons.

Yesterday, Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan was once again stripped of the portfolio of Information Department.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab government, Firdous Ashiq Awan has been appointed as Special Assistant to Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar after the changes in the Punjab cabinet.

In the provincial cabinet, Mehr Mohammad Aslam, Minister for Mutual Aid and Zawar Hussain Warraich, Minister for Prisons were dismissed yesterday.

Today, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan has been given the ministry which was taken from Zawar Hussain Waraich, a notification of which has also been issued.

Speaking to media yesterday, Fayaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan had expressed his unawareness about the withdrawal of the portfolio of Information Ministry from him. However, in his response today, he said, “Whatever happens is for the good, this is the faith of all of us in Allah.”

Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan is often criticized for his controversial statements.

On March 5, 2019, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan had to resign over a controversial statement regarding the minority community.

However, on July 5 of the same year, he returned to the Punjab cabinet and was made the provincial forest minister.

Later, in December 2019, Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chauhan was given the portfolio of Provincial Information Minister.
