Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) president Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz will be released on parole on Friday (today).
As per the details, both will be released on five-day parole before the funeral of Shahbaz’s mother Begum Shamim Akhtar.
Punjab Home Department said parole is a legal right of Shahbaz and Hamza. Earlier, Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had requested the court for the temporary release of Shahbaz and Hamza to the provincial cabinet for approval.
It is pertinent to mention that the dead body of Begum Shamim Akhtar is expected to be brought to Pakistan on Saturday. Funeral prayers are expected to be offered on Saturday at the Sharif Medical City Raiwind.
The mother of the former prime minister and current Supreme Leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Nawaz Sharif, Begum Shamim passed away. BOL News reported on 22 November.
Begum Shamim Akhtar was 90 years old.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif and Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s respected mother has passed away,” senior PML-N leader Ataullah Tarar tweeted.
In February this year, Begum Shamim Akhter departed for London to see her ailing son Nawaz Sharif.
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said Begum Shamim was advised not to travel in the light of her health and age.
But, she insisted to remain present with Nawaz Sharif as he undergoes medical treatment in London.
She passed away this morning, according to party sources, at the Avenfield Apartments where she was staying with Nawaz Sharif.
Begum Shamim Akhtar had been ill for the past week and her condition had been fragile due to her old age.
