Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani indicted by Karachi Court

The accountability court has indicted Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and other accused in the assets beyond known sources cases.

According to the details, Sindh Assembly Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and co-accused have pleaded not guilty. Following the denial of the accused, the court has summoned witnesses.

The accused include Agha Siraj’s wife Naheed Durrani, son Agha Shahbaz and his brother Agha Masihuddin Khan Durrani. Agha Siraj’s daughters Sanam Durrani, Shahana Durrani, and Sara Durrani have also been charged. The accused Tufail Ahmed, Zulfiqar, Agha Munawar Ali, Ghulam Murtaza, and Gul Bihar were also charged.

On July 20 last year, the anti-corruption body had ordered an inquiry on charges of corruption against the Sindh Assembly speaker.

The defendants are accused of making assets in excess of their income. According to the NAB reference, Agha Siraj Durrani has amassed assets worth over Rs 1.61 billion, of which he has even sold some properties.

According to the anti-graft body, Agha Siraj Durrani’s illegal assets include a house and 35 vehicles. 350 tolas of gold were also recovered from his locker. Watches worth Rs 110 million were also recovered from the accused and other family members during the raid.

The NAB prosecution named 20 persons including Agha Siraj Durrani as accused in the reference filed in accountability court Karachi after an inquiry.

The NAB Karachi had arrested Siraj Durrani from a hotel in Islamabad in February this year.

Earlier, the anti-graft watchdog body had recently filed a reference pertaining to assets beyond means of income against Agha Siraj Durrani.
