Let it be known that ECP has declared the 7th of December, as National Voters Day.

Special programs are organized on this day, including debates, social activities, media programs, conferences, and seminars at the national, regional, provincial, and district levels.

Speakers highlight the importance and stressed voters’ education to use the right to vote effectively and wisely, which would cause the strengthening of the democratic process in the country.

The purpose of National Voters Day is to encourage greater participation in the electoral process.

It may be recalled that Pakistan witnessed the 2020 Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly elections on 15 November 2020, in 24 constituencies, each electing one member to the 3rd Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly.

The elections were originally scheduled to be held on 18 August 2020 but were postponed in July due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which severely affected Gilgit-Baltistan.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, which rules nationally, led in the polls and the Pakistan Peoples Party has been shown as the second-most-popular political party.
