The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has dismissed government’s consideration of holding early senate elections.

According to the details, ECP in its verdict said that polls will be held on time. ECP officials stated that the elections would be held on time according to the law.

The ECP has 30 days to conduct the Senate elections and it cannot hold the polls before the time. However, the ECP has the right to conduct the Senate polls in between February 11 to March 11.

On the other hand, former secretary Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Kunwar Dilshad said that introducing a “show of hands” voting procedure in the upcoming Senate election will reveal big secrets.

In his recent statement, he said that “It is too late for the government to opt for a show of hands procedure in the elections. The decision will violate Article 226 of the Constitution.”
