Minister for Interior Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday announced that passport of PML-N supremo and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif will be cancelled on February 16.

According to the details, while speaking to reporters in Islamabad, he said the opposition had been “exposed” as money launderers and people who obtained iqamas because they were not honest with the country.

Nawaz has been living in London since last year after he was allowed to leave the country on account of medical treatment.

Sheikh Rashid said that manual visa system has been abolished. There were complaints about visas, so they are being closed.

The government has already approached British authorities to extradite former premier Nawaz Sharif. Special Assistant to PM Imran Khan on Accountability Shahzad Akbar had earlier said that it is up to the British government to decide on the extradition of the PML-N Supremo.

It may be recalled that Nawaz Sharif was granted an eight-week bail on medical grounds in October 2019 and a month later he was allowed to travel abroad for treatment for four weeks.

The government maintains that Nawaz was permitted on condition he would share details of treatment which he didn’t do.
