Pakistan recorded 55 deaths in the past 24 hours due to the novel coronavirus bringing the national death tally to 9,929.
According to the national COVID-19 portal, in the past 24 hours, 1,760 patients have recovered from the virus in a day and 2,263 patients are in critical condition.
The total count of active cases is 39,488 and the positivity rate of COVID-19 infections stands at 6.12 per cent.
According to the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), with fresh inclusion of the infections in the country the national tally of cases now currently stands at 473,309.
A total of 32,205 tests were conducted across the country during this period. Overall 423,892 people have recovered from the deadly disease so far while 6,589,317 samples have been tested thus far.
Free-of-cost coronavirus vaccine
Minister for Science and Technology Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said that the government will try its best to cover major chunk of population with free-of-cost coronavirus vaccine.
He said this while addressing a press conference in Lahore. The Minister said that the private companies would be given permission to import coronavirus vaccine. The Minister said vaccine would be administered to front-line workers and senior citizens on priority basis.
World Coronavirus Situation
The number of Coronavirus cases across the world has reached 81,144,994 while the pandemic has claimed 1,771,981 lives so far. As many as 57,293,765 patients have recovered from the disease across the world.
