As per the directives of Pakistan Democratic Movement leadership, lawmakers of opposition parties on Wednesday handed over their resignations from the assemblies to their party leaders.
The decision was made at a PDM meeting in Islamabad. The PDM is an 11-member opposition party alliance formed in September to oust Prime Minister Imran Khan’s government.
The alliance has held several rallies in major Pakistani cities, including Gujranwala, Karachi, and then Quetta. Now, the final rally will be in Lahore on December 13.
Earlier, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the opposition was seeking a confrontation. He warned that legal action would be taken against those violating health protocols devised to curb the COVID-19 spread.
