Senior bureaucrat Maroof Afzal, chairman-designate of the Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC), passed away on Thursday.
According to reports, Maroof Afzal succumbed to Coronavirus complications. He had been under treatment at a military hospital in Rawalpindi for the last couple of days.
He was earlier working as FPSC member and was named chairman of FPSC on November 13.
On the other hand, Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his heartfelt condolences on the passing of Maroof Afzal.
“Saddened to learn of ex-cabinet secretary Maroof Afzal’s passing. My condolences and prayers go to his family,” the tweet by PM Imran read.

PM Imran prayed for the departed soul and shared deepest condolences to the family of the bereaved.
Moreover, due to his health issues, Afzal could not take oath of his office after he was name FPSC chairman.
