The police responded with tear gas on teachers heading towards the residence of PM at Banigala on Saturday.
The demonstrators also reported that police were successful in holding back and clearing the path leading towards the PM residence.
The area was subsequently ‘sealed’ and the protection was ensured all over the zone by place well-equipped cops including Counter-Terrorism Department and Anti-Riot Unit.
Several teachers involved in the protest were arrested and taken to various police stations.
Earlier, The teachers carried out demonstrations against the Sindh government and it turned violent as they shifted their demonstration to the Sindh Assembly.
The teachers had been protesting outside the Karachi Press Club for ten consecutive days but today on Friday they decided to shift their protest to the Sindh Assembly.
Police had blocked the way to the assembly by containers but one route was still open so the teachers continued their march to the assembly and tried to enter it.
Security officials closed the doors of the assembly, so the teachers staged a protest outside the assembly.
Several teachers were arrested by the police and taken to nearby police stations.
The teachers demanded to make their contract to be permanent as they were appointed on a contract basis in 2011, 2015, and 2016.
