Stressing on the need to facilitate the registration process for the benefit of special persons, the President said that effective steps have been taken to cater to the needs of persons with disabilities and enable special persons in various walks of life.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting for the welfare of special persons here on Monday.
The meeting was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare Dr Sania Nishtar, Chairman NADRA Usman Mubeen and concerned senior officials.
During the meeting, Dr Sania Nishtar and Chairman NADRA briefed about the steps taken for registration of special persons.
On the occasion, the President said that the registration process needs to be simplified for the convenience of special persons, effective steps should be taken to meet the needs of the disabled and enable them in various walks of life.
President Arif Alavi said that it was important to conduct a survey on special people so that strategies could be formulated to solve their problems effectively.
Dr Sania Nishtar said that the survey on persons with disabilities under the Ehsas program will be completed by June 2021.
The President urged the concerned stakeholders to take steps for the economic development of special persons and their inclusion in the mainstream education system.
President Arif Alvi appreciated the steps taken by NADRA and the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation for the registration of special persons.
