The Election Commission of Pakistan has said that it will take up the matter of Foreign Funding Case against the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) on December 24th.
According to the reports, ECP’s director for public relations, Altaf Ahmad, said the scrutiny committee conducted frequent hearings and submitted interim reports to the commission.
The committee adjourned the hearing temporarily after a number of officials/officers contracted Covid-19.
According to the statement by ECP, in the light of standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) and adopted by the ECP secretariat for implementation, the committee had now decided to resume the proceedings and meet on Dec 24.
The ECP in its order dated August 27, 2020, stated that “the Commission has thoroughly gone through it and came to the conclusion “that the Committee neither scrutinized the record nor evaluated the evidence from the documents”.
