Punjab Govt rejects parole extension request for Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza

The Government of Punjab has rejected the request of Pakistan Muslim League (N) to extend the parole of party president Shahbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz.

According to the details, PML-N had earlier requested the home department to extend the parole of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz.

PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz Sharif have been released from Lahore’s Kot Lakhpat jail for five days to attend the funeral of Begum Shamim Akhtar who was laid to rest in Lahore on November 28^th.

The funeral prayers were led by Mufti Ragib Naeemi. PML-N leaders Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz attended the funeral. Dozens of party workers were present at the site as well.

Nawaz Sharif didn’t attend the funeral because of his health conditions. He is currently seeking treatment in London.

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif offered the funeral prayers of his mother in London on Friday along with several families and party members.

The prayers were held in the London Central Mosque — alternatively known as Regent’s Park Mosque — where the number of participants had to be limited to 30 under the United Kingdom’s coronavirus guidelines.

Begum Shamim’s body was brought back to Pakistan on Saturday via British Airways flight BA-059. Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza received the body at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport.

Begum Shamim Akhtar passed away in London on November 22 at the age of 89. She had developed a severe chest infection and was suffering from an advanced stage of Alzheimer’s disease. Her condition had deteriorated and she could not regain her health due to old age. Begum Shamim was receiving treatment at a London hospital and her body was previously kept at the Avenfield Apartments where she was staying with Nawaz Sharif.

Let it be known that Shahbaz and Hamza were being held at Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore in different NAB cases.

Hamza, the leader of the opposition in the Punjab Assembly, is being investigated by NAB in the Ramzan Sugar Mills, Saaf Pani, and assets beyond known means of income cases. He was arrested by NAB on June 11, 2019. Whereas Shahbaz was arrested by a NAB team from outside the Lahore High Court on September 28.
