CNG Stations reopen in Sindh after six days

Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) stations reopen across the Sindh province on Sunday after six day closure.

According to the details, long queues of vehicles were seen outside stations in Karachi and other cities of the province.

Spokesperson of the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) said that the CNG stations will remain open across Sindh for 24 hours from 8:00am Sunday.

SSGC had earlier announced the opening of CNG stations at 8:00 am from Thursday but later extended the closure for another 48 hours across Sindh.

The authorities had previously warned that the gas shortage will heighten in January because of the authorities’ failure in getting hold of three cargoes of LNG.

Sindh’s energy minister Imtiaz Ahmed Sheikh had earlier said that the province only has enough gas reserves to last 12 years and that oil reserves are also gradually declining.

Imtiaz Shaikh said, Sindh’s gas is being usurped. He said that the province’s oil reservoirs were also gradually declining. Imtiaz Shaikh said that the Sui Northern was being supplied with Sindh’s gas lines.

On the issue of gas shortage in the province, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah also slammed the federal government and asked the GDA and PTI legislators to quit the cabinet in centre for the sake of Sindh’s people.
