Victor Roger of Switzerland won the title by winning the first position in the final of the Giant Slalom category of the Pakistan International Snowboarding Championship held at the ski reserve in Malam Jabba, Sawat.
More than 44 international and national athletes, including four women, took part in the Pakistan International Snowboarding Championship.
The Pakistan International Snowboarding Championship was attended by a large number of Snowboarding fans from other countries including Switzerland, Belgium, France and Afghanistan and Senator Faisal Javed was the special guest at the closing ceremony yesterday.
The Pakistan International Snowboarding Championship was organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) in collaboration with the Departments of Tourism, Sports, Archeology, Culture, Museums and Youth Affairs and the Samson Group of Companies.
In the men’s giant slalom category of the championship, Julien Harry of Belgium came second and Harry came third, while in the women’s event, the Pakistani athletes took all three positions.
Pakistan’s Fatima Nadeem, Sara Nadeem and Ayesha Kamal bagged the first, second and third positions respectively in the said category.
Rezaullah, a young player from Malam Jabba, bagged the first position, Suresh Ahmed of Afghanistan and Wakil Ahmed of Pakistan bagged the second and third positions respectively in the second category of Giant Slalom.
In the women’s category, Sara Nadeem came first, Fatima Nadeem second and Ayesha Kamal third.
All the top three finishers in the Pakistan International Snowboarding Championship were awarded cash prizes and certificates.
Swiss athlete Julien Harry said Malam Jabba is a great place for skiing and snowboarding and a great place for mountaineering and other sports enthusiasts, including the Winter Games.
