The Police on Tuesday has arrested a crook in Karachi for looting people under the cover of a ‘foodpanda’ delivery rider.

According to the details, East SSP Sajid Amir Sadozai, Firozabad police while nabbing the fake food panda delivery rider, who was recovered from the crook who was identified as Abdul Rauf; also recovered a uniform, bag, and a pistol.

Police said that the accused used to knock on the door of the houses by calling himself a rider and then looted them.

Police added that the search for other accomplices of the accused is launched. Moreover, the accused has also confessed to 21 incidents of looting. Further investigation is underway.

Back in April 2020, Interpol Police Organisation said that the criminals are using food delivery services as a cover to loot people and transport drugs and other illegal goods during the coronavirus crisis, which has seen countries around the world go into lockdown.

It is worth mentioning here that the lockdowns and limits to people’s movements, imposed by governments around the world in a bid to thwart the spread of the virus, have led to increased demand for delivery drivers.
